Summer in Bath: How to do Bath in the summer
Bath is a pretty special place year round - but our city comes into its own during the summer months. With some fantastic outdoor events and places to enjoy the sunshine, we’ve put together our top 5 places to hang out when we’re not kneading dough.
Victoria Park, Bath
Catch the hot air balloons taking off almost every evening throughout the summer from Royal Victoria Park.
This is one of Bath’s best green spaces and the park is only 10 minutes walk from Bath city centre beyond the Royal Crescent. This is a brilliant post-work spot to enjoy views of the city and soak up the atmosphere as Bath’s hot air balloon companies launch for the arial views and sunset over Bath.
Beyond Bath: Cycle the canal
Hire a bike and head out into the countryside with pub stops at The George (Bathampton), Cross Guns (Avoncliff) and one of Bradford on Avon’s tea rooms. The canal path winds east of the city through stunning countryside and villages and features two impressive Aqueducts along the way. Head out from Bath towards Bradford-on-Avon and return via Monkton Combe village picking up the the Two Tunnels back into Bath.
Grab a bike for the day (or overnight) from Green Park Bike Station next to us at Bath Pizza Co.
Pitch and Putt with incredible views
Just across the road from Royal Victoria Park is Bath’s Pitch and Putt (run by Better). With 2 courses - one 12 hole and another 18 hole course the views from the top of the courses across Bath are fantastic.
Picnic in Sydney Gardens
Regularly once frequented by Jane Austen, Bath’s Sydney Gardens is one of the few remaining eighteenth-century pleasure gardens in the UK. Located at the end of Great Pulteney Street behind the Holburne Museum, the gardens also have tennis courts and a play area for families.
Head south to a proper country pub
The Packhorse is just three miles from Bath city centre and boasts stunning views of the surrounding countryside in Southstoke.
Sunday 18th March 2018 marked a new era for this community pub with 430 shareholders - now once again a thriving country pub after several years of closure.
Grab a drink, some food and relax in this peaceful country pub garden.
