Beer gardens at the ready. Terraces standby. Hold my cider.
The good times return from Monday 12 April with alfresco drinks and dining - be sure to get out and support those incredible independents that make Bath an amazing place to live, work and visit.
We can’t wait to reopen and welcome our wonderful guests back to enjoy our beer, cocktails, fizz and award winning food.
We’re also looking forward to heading out and supporting the amazing independent businesses that make Bath a unique place. So much so, that we’ve penned a quick list of all of those that we will be visiting as soon as we can.
Be sure to head out and support these independents and others this spring, summer and beyond, these hospitality venues are the lifeblood that make Bath, Bath.
On your marks… (in no particular order).
The White Hart, Widcombe, Bath
Great food and drink in a traditional, local pub environment.
Where in Bath? A couple of minutes walk from Bath city centre in Widcombe.
Best for… these guys have a pretty picturesque garden hidden behind the pub with high stone walls and plant pots. Perfect for long, warm evenings.
The Marlborough Tavern, Bath
Another “edge of Bath town centre” beer garden beautifully finished with a cosy vibe.
Where in Bath? Behind the Royal Crescent on Marlborough Buildings.
Best for… A few pints of Pale Ale (Beavertown Neck Oil) and the local hang out vibe.
The Grapes, bath
Funky outdoor pavement terrace tucked behind the busy streets.
Where in Bath? Westgate Street and behind near the Little Theatre Cinema for their funky additional pavement seating area.
Best for… watching the world go by in Bath city centre.
SUB 13, Bath
The party returns. Cocktails and all round good fun with a terrace behind the main building that often host DJs in the evenings.
Where in Bath? George Street (top of Milsom Street).
Best for… cocktails and outside summer party vibes.
The Packhorse, Bath
You’ve heard us sing their praises before, but you just can’t beat the countryside call of this pub garden and the historic nature of this Bath pub.
Where in Bath? Southstoke Village, Bath
Best for… the garden, the labradors, the beer.
The Bird, Bath
Pretty new as it goes in Bath, over the last couple of years these guys have designed their changing alfresco space year round to roll with the seasons. Think outdoor summer beach bar to winter ski chalet Christmas vibes.
Where in Bath? 5 minutes walk down Great Pulteney Street onto Pulteney Road (opposite St Mary’s Bathwick, Church).
Best for… something a bit different away from the crowds.
Corkage, Bath
Small plates and wines by the glass - a match made in heaven for an alfrecso spring and summer. The team have created a stunning alfresco terrace at the back of the restaurant for guests to enjoy from 12 April. We can’t wait!
Where in Bath? Chapel Row - just off Queen Square, Bath.
Best for… trying something a bit different. Ask for food and wine pairing suggestions. Oh and the new alfresco terrace.
Flan O’Briens
We’re not 100% sure when Flans will be back but we hope it’s soon. Last summer their pub pavement atmosphere was a great reminder of why city centre pubs are just amazing: sunshine, drinks and watching the world go by on a lazy afternoon.
Where in Bath? Westgate Street (Kingsmead Square end)
Best for… Proper old school pub with a lively crowd. Pass me a Guinness.
The Wheatsheaf, Combe Hay, nr Bath
Another village pub near Bath that we’ve harped on about before, but you just can’t beat a cracking beer garden, friendly team and great range of beers and wine.
Where in Bath? About 15-20 minutes drive from Bath city centre
Best for… alfresco living in the huge garden and the slower pace of life
Bathwick Boatman, Bath
Another favourite we’ve mentioned before. Great for the Sunday Roast lunch or a romantic evening dinner on the terrace overlooking the river. Lovely people and team running the show.
Where in Bath? Rockcliffe Avenue, Bathwick, Bath
Best for… that terrace overlooking the river
St James’ Wine Vaults, Bath
Technically not open until May (as far as we know), but well worth putting in the diary. Another locals hang out where the pavement seating is going to be popular when things are up and running. Great service and a great range of draught beer. Another of Bath’s lesser known cafe culture places when the sun is out and the pavement is busy.
Where in Bath? Just off St James’ Square on Julian Road.
Best for… old school charm, cafe culture pavement feel.
